Stop Starving Your Coils For Air, Risking Damaging Pressure Drop
and Burning Up Electronic Components

A Revolutionary New High Air Flow Filtration Media Is Finally Available

5 Problems Caused By Low Air Flow:

  • strain on your motor
  • coils may freeze up
  • excess heat on your electronic components
  • your machinery can run less efficiently or
  • may cause total equipment failure

In most traditional non-woven, foam and screen air filters, particles tend to clog air passages which can cause damaging pressure drop.

The Revolutionary New 3MTM High Air Flow (HAF) Filtration Media reduces your risk of pressure drop issues.  HAF uses microstructure technology to create an array of air flow channels. These channels are electrostatically charged to attract and trap oppositely charged, unwanted particles along the air channel walls, while leaving the channel open for air flow.  The electrostatic charge greatly increases HAF's ability to capture and retain smaller and intermediate sized particles, without significantly restricting air flow.  Once the particles have made contact with the filter media, they are held by intermolecular attractive forces better known as van der Waals forces.

Channel structure allows air to flow
as electrostatic charge captures particles

Electrostatically charged 20mm HAF media captures particles as small as 6.5 microns with 74% fractional efficiency at low flow rates of 20 ft./minute.*1  (As reference, the diameter of a human hair is about 100 microns and the human eye typically can not see particles less than 50-60 microns).   HAF allows significantly more air to flow over your coils or through your fans than typical loaded filters.

How To Reduce Maintenance Costs & Protect Equipment from Pressure Drop Issues

HAF Filtration Media is suitable as a primary filter for forced airflow applications and vents using passive convection or motor-driven air flow.   It is ideally used where high air flow is extremely critical and where filter replacement is difficult or impractical.  HAF media may be suitable for use in:

  • air conditioners
  • electronic air cleaners
  • humidifiers
  • refrigerators
  • compressors
  • electronic or optical devices
  • vehicle cabins
  • cooling fans and
  • other industrial appliances/machinery

HAF filtration is available in 5, 10,
15, 20, 25 & 30mm thick

Learn How You Can Increase the Service Life of Your High Efficiency Filter

HAF is not HEPA rated, it is not considered an extremely high efficiency media or suitable as a primary furnace filter.  However, it is often used as a secondary pre-filter in these applications.  As a pre-filter, HAF captures particles in front of expensive or hard to replace high efficiency filters.  It can increase efficiency and extend service life, without significantly restricting air flow.  No matter what the application, HAF users typically operate cleaner, better performing systems with longer and less expensive maintenance cycles.

HAF's 5mm profile fits in tight spaces
like air
conditioning units for vehicle cabins

Benefits of Using Custom Converted 3M HAF Filters

Features  Advantages
Open channel microstructure technology High air flow can prevent equipment damage, increase efficiency, reduce energy costs and/or lower maintenance cycle costs
Electrostatic charge Particle capture usually allows machines to run more efficiently & with less down time or maintenance
Rigid structure Reducing the need for frames saves money
5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 mm thicknesses Thicker materials increase capture efficiency and expand application opportunities
100% synthetic Resists moisture & common chemicals
Meets UL 900, Class 2 Suitable in applications requiring horizontal burn rating
Thin profiles Avoid equipment redesign costs because this filter is thin enough to avoid mechanical parts
HAF is flexible In some applications, 5mm HAF may even be formed into cylinders
Available in white or green anti-microbial Anti-microbial material inhibits the growth of mold and mildew on the media  (overtime, mold and mildew may grow on built up captured particles-for more information, refer to 3M's technical data page)
Custom packaging Filters are wrapped & packaged to meet your production needs
Customized Sizes

Material can easily be custom cut to meet your needs for almost any size or shape
