GENERAL INFORMATION
| A 31.0 mil. double coated polyethylene foam tape with 430 acrylic adhesive ideal for joining, mounting, gasketing and sealing applications involving irregular surfaces. 4492W combines a conformable closed cell foam with a high strength acrylic adhesive that provides good initial tack and offers high ultimate adhesion to a wide variety of surfaces. 430 is a firm acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive which features good initial adhesion and good resistance to both elevated temperature and environmental conditions. Solvent splash testing cycle = 20 seconds submersion and 20 seconds air dry through 3 cycles. Slit rolls 1/8 in. up to 1/2in. are only available in standard lengths. Bond strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact developed. Firm application pressure helps develop better adhesive contact and improve bond strength. To obtain optimum adhesion, the bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and well unified. Typical surface cleaning solvents are isopropyl alcohol and water (rubbing alcohol)or water. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's precautions and directions for use when using cleaning solvents. Initial tape application to surfaces below 50°F is not recommended because the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly applied, low temperature holding is generally satisfactory. 4492W is A.A.M.A listed by the American Architectural Manufacturer's Association. It exceeds all A.A.M.A #810.1-92 voluntary specifications for "Expanded Cellular Glazing Tapes" tests. See 3M data sheet for Dispenser Suggestions. |
