  • Saves money due to fewer rejections
  • Saves money by reducing reworks
  • Reduces labor costs and increases production rates
  • Resistant to most electroplating chemicals which provides less undercutting
  • Abrasion resistant backing protects parts from processing scratches
  • Conformable backing follows contours
  • Lower adhesion allows easy removal and less distortion of parts when tape is removed
  • Liner protects tape from contamination
APPLICATIONS
  • Selective masking of metal parts during electroplating of various metals
  • Protection of selective surfaces during light-duty sandblasting or chemical etching
  • Holding semi-conductor wafers during polishing operations
MARKETS SERVED
  • Electronics
  • Industrial
COLORS
  • Yellow
GENERAL INFORMATION
A 7.2 mil. tape featuring vinyl backing coated with rubber adhesive laminated to a silicone coated release liner ideal for masking surfaces during electroplating and anodizing. 495 tape offers excellent resistance to most chemicals used in electroplating/ anodizing operations. Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures above 177°F and hot caustics may cause weakening of the adhesive bond. While 495 resists most common solvents, care should be taken to avoid ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons and esters found in many lacquer thinners, degreasers, paint strippers etc., whic may cause the backing to swell or curl.

  • The physical properties listed are typical values and are not to be considered as specifications. Our suggestions for use are based on tests we believe to be reliable. However, the purchaser must carry out their own tests to determine the suitability of the product for their internal use. Information is given in good faith, but without warranty.
  • It is essential, as with all pressure-sensitive tapes, that the surface to which the tape is applied be clean, dry and free of grease and oil.
  • Shelf life from date of manufacture is based on the product being stored at 70°F(21°C) / 50% relative humidity out of direct sunlight.
  • Specification compliance is dynamic and should only be used as a general guide. Always confirm that the tape you are interested in currently complies with all specification requirements. Please verify that the product number that you select is available in the proper size and color to meet your specification.
